Top 8 Biggest Prospects In The UFC

It’s nice and easy following a star at the top of their game, but today, we are showing some love to the fighters who are yet to reach the heights of their fighting careers and potentially have a bright future ahead of them.

Here’s my list of potential future stars…

Honorable Mentions

Paige VanZant – Holding a record of 7-2 and recently coming off a very impressive head kick TKO, I feel she deserves a mention.

John Lineker – Winning his last 5 fights and finishing 3 of them, Lineker is stepping up his game and is closing in on a potential title shot.

Aljamain Sterling – Coming off a controversial split decision loss to Bryan Caraway, Sterling’s record stands at 12-1 and I believe he has all the potential to become a future champion.

8. Dooho Choi

Currently on a 3-fight win streak in the UFC, with all wins coming by knockout. Dooho Choi has a dangerous stand-up game and possesses the power to knock out any opponent he faces. If his impressive start continues, we may see him close in on a title fight in the future.

7. Tatiana Suarez

Winner of The Ultimate Fighter and a serious contender, Tatiana Suarez has a 4-0 record and has really impressed with her skilled wrestling techniques and strong ground game. If she can continue to dominate we may see her fight for the title in the near future.

6. Nikita Krylov

With 13 submission wins and 8 knockout wins in his 21-4 MMA record, Krylov poses a serious threat in the Light Heavyweight Division finishing every opponent he’s faced and seems to only be two or three wins away from a potential title shot.

5. Sage Northcutt

Although he holds a 2-1 record in the UFC, Northcutt’s unique fighting style is something to look out for. A strong stand-up game and a proven grappling defence, I see Northcutt being in and around the Lightweight Title in the future.

4. Yair Rodriguez

With one of the most unique fighting styles in the UFC, currently on a 9 fight win streak and having a mix of 2 knockouts, 2 submissions and 5 decisions on his record, I believe with age and a better mentality for the sport, he could be a real contender.

3. Kelvin Gastelum

With a record of 12-2 and both of his losses coming by decision, wins over fighters such as Johny Hendricks, Jake Ellenberger, Nate Marquardt and Rick Story, and all of this at the age of just 24, I can see the man labelled as the welterweight ‘Cain Velasquez’ being a future star and maybe even champion.

2. Max Holloway

Currently, on an 8-fight win streak and his most recent loss coming to Conor McGregor, with 16 wins under his belt at the age of 24, and an all round extremely talented fighter, I believe Holloway could potentially be a future Featherweight Champion.

1. Cody Garbrandt

Unbeaten and finishing 9 of his 10 fights by knockout, quickly building his fan base and having a back and forth with the current Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz, I believe Cody Garbrandt has a very bright future ahead of him, ultimately giving him the number 1 spot.
