Recently MMA fans saw Jose Aldo get beat for the featherweight title at UFC 212. But just because he got beat doesn’t mean that the division gets put on hold. That’s because Artem Lobov has called the former champ out. Just days after his loss, Lobov claims he’s the closest thing to McGregor, Aldo will get. Lobov made his name in The Ultimate Fighter 22, firstly getting beat in the prelims. Then he got brought back as a wild card by McGregor and reached the finale only to be beat by Ryan Hall. Read the tweet below.
Dont mean 2 kick u while ur down, but realistically I am as close to Conor as u could get. Forget everything and lets do it! It'be an honour

Bold statement to make.
It’s a pretty bold statement to make considering Lobov has lost 3 of his 5 fights. While McGregor has lost just 3 times in his career. Their styles are polar opposites, as are their personalities. So what makes Lobov think he’s the closest thing to McGregor? It could be that he’s McGregor‘s training partner but is that enough to warrant a fight with Aldo.
Many MMA fans will think that Lobov is grasping at straws trying to get a fight with Aldo. As well as calling out Aldo, Lobov has called out Korean star Doo Ho Choi. It seems as if Lobov just wants to fight no matter who it is. It is highly unlikely that Lobov will get a shot at Aldo. The possibility of him facing Doo Ho Choi is very likely. Both Choi and Lobov last fought and lost against Cub Swanson. This meaning both men will be fresh and looking to fight.
Even though Aldo ruled the featherweight division (WEC/UFC) for nearly a decade, fans think he is past his prime. This could be the main reason for Lobov asking for the fight. If this is the case Lobov would be foolish to take Aldo lightly. The last time Aldo came back from a loss, he took Frankie Edgar through a five round war.
