It looks like top heavyweight prospect Francis Ngannou is set to take a step up in competition!
His opponent will be former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior Dos Santos at UFC 215. Ngannou is 5-0 in his UFC career with all five fights coming via either KO/TKO or submission – He TKO’d former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski at UFC on Fox 23 in January of this year, before that he submitted Anthony Hamilton at UFC Fight Night 102 this past December.
Junior Dos Santos has gone 2-3 in his last five UFC appearances, his recent fight in the Octagon ended in a TKO loss to current UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 211, before that he took Ben Rothwell to a decision at UFC Fight Night 86, that win earned him his third UFC title shot.
The UFC confirmed the bout earlier today and is set for UFC 215 which will take place at the Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on September 9th. No main event has been announced as of yet – Also confirmed to be appearing on the card is a flyweight bout between former top contender Henry Cejudo as he takes on Wilson Reis.
