Rivera vs Almeida booked for UFC on Fox 25

Bantamweight contenders Jimmie Rivera and Thomas Almeida will square off at UFC on Fox 25.

Newsday first reported the matchup, although the fight is yet to be confirmed by UFC officials. UFC on Fox 25 will take place in Nassau Coliseum and reportedly will have a light heavyweight showdown between Gian Villante and Patrick Cummins.

Jimmie Rivera is currently on a four-fight win streak in the UFC (19 overall), ‘El Terror’ is coming of his most notable win over UFC Hall Of Famer, Urijah Faber. Rivera has been calling for a title shot since then but rumours had circulated that he would welcome Marlon Moraes to the UFC, although nothing came of these rumours and Rivera has now been slated to face Almeida.

Almeida, on the other hand, is on a one fight winning streak after defeating Albert Morales by second round TKO back in November, with the only loss on the Brazilians record is to bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt. Almeida has finished all but one opponent in his entire career with some of his more notable wins in the octagon coming over Brad Pickett, Anthony Birchak and Yves Jabouin.
