Cage Warriors Academy returned to the Echo Arena for a night of MMA Action – Check out the results

This past Saturday Cage Warriors returned to the Echo Arena in Liverpool to host their Academy show.

Cage Warriors Academy showcases all the latest up and coming international talent within the world of mixed martial arts – Cage Warriors Academy is seen as a stepping-stone into the professional ranks with the hopes that upcoming talent transition into Cage Warriors once they turn professional.

Fighting on the card was Wales’ Josh Roberts as he took on Ireland’s Mark Gallivan for the CWA Welterweight title. England’s Mark Smith took on Kacper Zasada for the 145lb title and Liam Gittins looked to defend his 125lb title to John Hughes.

Also on the card was a professional bout between England’s Mathew Bonner and Ireland’s James Sheehan who was making his pro debut.

Overall the event was a great success and there are many fighters who have a very bright futures ahead of them in the sport of mixed martial arts.

Liam Gittins vs John HughesGittins put on a hell of a showing against a very game John Hughes. Gittins is still very young and has many years ahead of him – Gittins has stated his intentions of having one more amateur fight before turning professional.

Both Gittins and Hughes went to war exchanging heavy blows throughout the fight, it was Gittins who landed the cleaner crisper shots earning himself the victory.
