Bec Rawlings Explains Missed Weight

Bec Rawlings explains why she missed weight for UFC Fight Night 104 and calls for a female 125lbs weight class.

For UFC Fight Night 104, Bec Rawlings is the lone fighter to miss weight.

She took to her Instagram to explain her miss of the strawweight limit by 1.5 pounds.

The fight with Tecia Torres is still on and Rawlings seems to have genuinely pushed her body to its limits within this weight-cut. The gap between strawweight (115lbs) and bantamweight (135) is a large jump and committing to one weight may involve cutting too much weight and being dehydrated or cutting less weight but giving up a large height and reach advantage.

Seeing the introduction of a 125lb weight class to the women would be a breath of fresh air and allow some of the women to compete at a more natural weight with less weight cutting and more time to focus on technique and ability leading to better fights.

Joanne Calderwood previously called for a female 125 weight class last year on The MMA Hour, nothing is to come of it yet.
