The UFC Fight Night held in Gdansk, Poland this Saturday sees Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone headline, but what do we know about the man that will be standing opposite him in the octagon.
Nicknamed ‘The Gorilla’, Darren Till is a former professional kickboxer and a former K-1 European Champion.
Till ventured into mixed martial arts in 2010 where he went on to have three amateur fights, winning all of them.
He spent much of his early MMA career in Brazil where he was part of Astra Fight Team.
The Liverpudlian turned professional in 2013, a year in which he fought eight times, again winning all of them. He finished all but one of those opponents.
Till went on to have a further four fights before signing with the UFC with a professional record of 12-0.
He made his UFC debut in Brazil against Wendell de Oliveira where he secured a knockout victory through elbow strikes.
The Brit then went on to earn himself a Fight of the Night bonus with a majority draw against Nicolas Dalby in Dublin.
He most recently faced and defeated Bojan Veličković via unanimous decision last month in The Netherlands.
Although boasting an impressive record of 15-0-1, Till is coming into this one as the underdog against the veteran, Cerrone. He will be hoping to further Cowboy’s current losing streak to three fights.
A win for The Gorilla will surely see him catapult into the top 10 of the division and the welterweight title will certainly be in his sights.
