Vitor Belfort to face Nate Marquardt in retirement fight at UFC 212
Vitor Belfort will make his 25th and final appearance inside the octagon at UFC 212.
Belfort (25-14) recently announced that he intends for his next appearance inside the octagon to be his last. ‘The Phenom’ made his UFC debut 20 years ago at UFC 12, destroying Tra Telligman and Scott Ferrozzo in a combined time of just 120 seconds, and claiming victory in the heavyweight tournament.
Throughout his long and storied career, Belfort has been a perennial contender in the UFC middleweight and light-heavyweight divisions, challenging for titles on the three separate occasions and defeating many top names such as Michael Bisping, Randy Couture, Anthony Johnson, Dan Henderson and Luke Rockhold.
Although recently, the 40-year-old Brazilian has struggled to compete at the highest level. He has lost four of his last five bouts, including three consecutive TKO losses in his last three appearances.
Belfort made the following post on social media yesterday regarding his 25th and final appearance inside the octagon:
