Valentina Shevchenko: “Ronda Rousey can be next”

Could we see Ronda Rousey make a return to the Octagon?

Title challenger, Valentina Shevchenko, has been scheduled to face Women’s Bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes, later this month. The two top-class athletes are set to compete at one of combat sports’ most anticipated cards of the year, when they headline UFC 213.

Valentina Shevchenko has won 7 of her last 8 fights, with the one loss coming from her next opponent and current champion, Amanda Nunes.

The Women’s Bantamweight division is currently stacked with talent and although she remains inactive, Ronda Rousey continues to be the biggest name in the history of the division.

When asked whether Valentina Shevchenko would look towards Ronda Rousey as a future opponent, she had this to say.

“I’m very focused on my upcoming fight… Everything is on my fight this 8 of July.”

But when asked one more time, she replied.

“Not now, not yet.”

As Valentina Shevchenko continues to leave a door open for a possible future fight with the ex-Bantamweight champion, would Ronda Rousey step back into the Octagon for a fight of this magnitude?
