UFC Heavyweight Champion reigns in on possibilities of fighting Englands Heavyweight Boxing Champ!
Another day, another MMA fighter talks about a potential crossover fight with a boxing superstar!
This time it comes via UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic. Speaking on ‘The Fight Society Podcast’ Miocic followed the likes of Conor McGreger, Jimi Manuwa and Anderson Silva and discussed how he’d get on in the squared circle.
“Conor’s going to do it. It’s a great cross promotion, I’d love to be a part of that.” Stipe said on the possibility of a boxing match. When asked about a how confident he’d be in a match with Anthony Joshua, Miocic stated “Super confident. I’m going to go out there and give it all I got. I’ve got the best coaches in the world and I’d definitely be ready for that fight.”
Stipe became the UFC Heavyweight Champion back at UFC 198 in May 2016 after knocking out Fabricio Werdum, he has since then defended the belt twice knocking out both Alistair Overeem at UFC 203 and then Junior Dos Santos at UFC 211 in May of this year.
Anthony Joshua became the IBF Heavyweight Champion in April 2016 after knocking out Charles Martin in just two rounds at the 02 arena in London, he then unified the WBA, IBO and IBF titles after stopping Wladimir Klitschko in the eleventh round in front of a 90,000 strong audience at the Wembley Arena.
This proposed matchup won’t happen anytime soon however as earlier today the IBF approved Joshua’s rematch with Klitschko, it is said the winner of that matchup will have to face mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev at a later date.
