As we enter 2017, we take a look at what this new year can offer us by listing off some of the best super fights rumoured to be happening sometime in 2017.

The list is based on rumours so any fight we feel is close to happening will not be on the list.

With arguably the greatest of all time returning in July later this year, his sights will be set on reclaiming the Light Heavyweight title and silencing Daniel Cormier for a second time.

Daniel Cormier will most likely have to defend his title against heavy hitter, Anthony Johnson before he can get his chance to avenge his only loss by defending his title against Jon Jones.

If the fight is to happen, it will most likely be towards the end of the year after both fighters have cleared the path of challengers standing in their way.

In his reign of dominance, Jones took a lot of criticism and fans doubted his ability to take damage during fights. Although Jones ran through one of the most competitive divisions in UFC history, he has never really faced anyone like Anthony Johnson and the power he hits with will be a real test to the ability of the ex-champion.

Anthony Johnson is regarded as one of the biggest talents in the Light Heavyweight division and possibly is the hardest hitter in the current UFC roster. Johnson has also taken some criticism from fans who believe he doesn’t have the endurance to keep up with championship fighters and with Jon Jones known to push a fighter to their limits for the entire fight, Johnson will be facing a real challenge.

If the fight is to happen, an interim title fight to see who will face current champion, Daniel Cormier, is the most likely scenario.

Luke Rockhold vs Chris Weidman

Luke Rockhold will be looking to regain his winning form after his recent loss and having stated that he thinks he is the best Middleweight competing in the UFC, earning the win over an opponent he has already beat shouldn’t be too much of a task.

After being dominated in their first outing, Weidman will be out to gain some revenge and push towards another title challenge after losing his title to Rockhold back in December 2015.

If this fight is to happen, both fighters might have to be coming off a win and the fight could possibly be a #1 contender bout.
