Nunes: “I may move to 145 to get two belts like Conor”

Everyone wants to do it like Conor:

Current UFC womens bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes is enjoying her new found spotlight. She initially commanded that when she submitted the now retired Miesha Tate back at UFC 200. Though Nunes sky rocketed to a new level when she crushed former champion and the pioneer of womens MMA, Ronda Rousey. With her momentum riding at it’s very highest so far, Nunes is already looking to push the bar even further in 2017.

Speaking to TMZ, the 28 year old fighter said “Honestly, I want to take a little time, enjoy it a little bit but I really look forward to this 145-pound belt.” She also stated her intentions to emulate Irish superstar Conor McGregor and become a two-weight world champion “Maybe I’ll go up to fight for the 145-pound belt. We’ll see. Maybe I’m going to have two belts like Conor McGregor.”

The 145 belt is yet to be held by any fighter with the title up for contest at the next event. The event is set to see Holly Holm take on Germaine de Randamie at UFC 208 on Feb 11. Though it must be noted that before Nunes can aim to prey on the new title, she must fight off the list of contenders coming for her bantamweight title with fighters such as Valentina Shevchenko, Julianna Pena and former foe Cat Zingano – the only fighter who has defeated Nunes in the UFC.
