Michael Bisping says GSP has until Saturday to make their championship clash happen

The middleweight champion had some sturn words for GSP

Published

Current UFC middleweight champion,  Michael Bisping has urged the former welterweight champion, Georges St-Pierre to make the middleweight title clash happen.

Yoel Romero and Robert Whittaker will square off this weekend at UFC 213 for the interim middleweight championship as Bisping nurses a knee injury but it is still not clear whether Bisping will face the winner of the interim title clash or if he will get his wish and defend his title against GSP.

Dana White recently confirmed that GSP now wishes to fight at welterweight, where he held the title for several years, rather than competing for the middleweight championship. “The Count” however, is still considering a potential super fight with St-Pierre if a deal can be agreed by all involved.

“I was supposed to fight GSP. Why wouldn’t I want to fight him? Of course, that would be big business,” Bisping said. “He’s a guy that will be regarded as a welterweight legend forever. I would love that fight for my legacy. We’ve been over this a million times. Now, Dana is saying (GSP) doesn’t want to fight. Georges is saying he does want to fight. I know that I want to fight and if we can still make the Georges thing happen, then great, I’m all in.”

Bisping believes the ball is now in St-Pierre’s court as he has constantly asked for the fight to no avail.  “Georges, if you’re watching this, I’ve done everything I can,” Bisping said. “I have called Dana White, I’ve expressed my desire to fight Georges St-Pierre. Every time we speak on the phone, I say, ‘Dana, that’s all well and good, but what about me and GSP?  Georges, I’ve done everything I can. If you want this fight to happen, get on your phone, call somebody up, send some messages — do f*****g something. I couldn’t care.

Bisping has warned GSP if the fight hasn’t been made official by Saturday then he will have no other choice but to fight the winner of the interim title bout at UFC 213. “Georges, if you’re watching, which I know you are because you want to know what I’m saying,” Bisping said, “you’ve got until Saturday because on Saturday I’m going to be on the FS1 post-fight show. Tune in, because one of those (fighters), Yoel Romero or Robert Whittaker, will be joining me on the desk.

“If I can’t say I’m fighting GSP by then, then I have to say I’m going to fight Whittaker or Romero. I can’t be a little bitch about it. Basically, the countdown is on.”

Will Bisping and GSP finally lock horns or will the champion make his second title defence against the interim champion? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Ahead of UFC 235 where UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones will defend his title against Anthony Smith, the UFC is offering fans a chance to relieve the fight which earned Jones the title.

At UFC 232 in December former champion Jones returned from a 12-month PED suspension, this was his shot at redemption, a chance to regain the title he never lost, in a matchup against the man who gave him the toughest fight of his career to date, Alexander Gustaffson. UFC 223 is set to be headlined by Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title.

With the news just released that his teammate will be fighting on the card, many believe that Conor McGregor will be ringside throughout the event, including the title match.

Is this just coincidence or do the UFC have something planned for after the main event concludes?

Lobov will be looking to get back into the wins column after losing his last two contests, while Caceres has lost three of his last four and will also be looking to return to winning ways.

UFC 223 takes place inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on April 7.

Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier set to square off in a heavyweight superfight

The two champions will coach TUF 27 then square off for heavyweight gold

Published

It looks like Dana White has got what he wanted. Daniel Cormier will face Stipe Miocic in a super fight for the UFC heavyweight championship.

The two champions will coach on the next series of the ultimate fighter and then face off for Miocic’s heavyweight crown. Cormier is no stranger to fighting at heavyweight after having 13 victories and no defeats, facing some serious competition during his time as a heavyweight such as Roy Nelson, Frank Mir and Josh Barnett and even winning the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix in 2012 as well as holding the KOTC and XMMA heavyweight championship.

The two will coach TUF 27 which will feature an array of talent as it will feature undefeated featherweight and lightweight prospects with the two coaches squaring off at UFC 226 on July 7th.  UFC 226 could also feature two more champion vs champion bouts as Cris Cyborg and Amanda Nunes is rumoured to be in the works for international fight week, as well as Demetrious Johnson vs TJ Dillashaw.   These other two bouts may not be confirmed as of yet but rumours are spreading rapidly.  If the UFC does manage to pull this off and get three champion vs champion fights on one card it will surely be the biggest PPV in the companies 25-year history.

Who do you think will take home the gold? Can Cormier dethrone Miocic? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Al Iaquinta vs Paul Felder booked for UFC 223

Published

on

After his impressive TKO victory over Charles Oliveira, Paul Felder gets his wish of fighting Al Iaquinta.

First reported by FloCombat.com, Iaquinta vs Felder has been in the works for some time, and sources have now confirmed the contest has been booked for April 7th, at the Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

The two Lightweight’s were scheduled to clash at UFC 218, but due to injury, Iaquinta was forced to withdraw.

Before taking a two-year break from the sport, Al Iaquinta was on a four-fight win streak. Although having contract issues with the UFC, he made a successful comeback at UFC Fight Night 108 in Nashville, where he earned a spectacular knockout of Diego Sanchez.

Also enjoying the best form of his career is “The Irish Dragon”, who has collected three consecutive stoppage victories over Alex Ricci, Steven Ray, and Charles Oliveira.

So far, the Iaquinta/Felder bout shares the UFC 223 card with the Women’s Strawweight face-off between Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Felice Herrig, and the Lightweight fight between Mairbek Taisumov and Evan Dunham.

Could we see Al Iaquinta extend his win streak to 6-in-a-row, or will we see Paul Felder continue with his recent run of wins and shock the #11 ranked Lightweight?
