LATEST: Matt Hughes in hospital after his truck collided with a train

The latest on Matt Hughe’s truck-train collision.

Matt Hughes, a UFC Hall of Famer was recently airlifted to hospital following his truck colliding with a train. It is said that the train hit Hughes vehicle while he was driving.

MMAJunkie have been told by well-known fight promoter and MMA manager Monte Cox that Hughes is in a coma after the incident. The coma has been induced by the trauma team at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield in order to stabilize Hughes.

“The HSHS St. John’s Regional Trauma Team stabilized him and continues to help him in his recovery, Hughes’ family asks that you respect their privacy during this difficult time. They ask that you keep Matt in your thoughts and prayers.”

The statement above was released by the Hospital. Many respectful messages are being paid to Hughes including from the UFC.

Dana White the president of the UFC has told ESPN.com that he has suffered serious head trauma. Hughes former boxing coach has also provided some news on the terrible incident via his Facebook:

We would like to wish Matt Hughes a speedy recovery and we’ll continue to keep his many fans updated.
