Eddie Alvarez vs Dustin Poirier set for UFC 211

The former lightweight champion will take on Dustin Poirier on May 13th at the American Airlines Centre in Dallas, Texas.

UFC officials confirmed today that Eddie Alvarez will take on Dustin Poirier at UFC 211 on May 13th at the American Airlines Centre in Dallas, Texas.

Alvarez (28-5) will look to get back in the win column after losing his title in devastating fashion at UFC 205, against none other than ‘The Notorious’ Conor McGregor. Prior to that last loss, ‘The Underground King’ had been on a three fight winning streak, including impressive victories over Anthony Pettis and Rafael Dos Anjos.

Meanwhile Poirier (21-5) is coming of an impressive performance against Jim Miller at UFC 208 that earned ‘Fight of the night’ honours. ‘The Diamond’ has won five of his last six fights and looked incredible since moving up to lightweight, he will now look to catapult himself to the top of the division with a win over the former champion.

In the main event, heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic will attempt to defend his title against Brazilian standout Junior dos Santos in a rematch of their 2014 bout, while Women’s strawweight champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk will take on Jessica Andrade in the co-main event of the evening.
