Eddie Alvarez says Dustin Poirier “wanted out”
The two lightweight contenders pushed each other to the limit at UFC 211 and it looks like they could be doing it all over again.
Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier went to war this past week and it has got the whole world anticipating a rematch after the UFC 211 bout ended in controversy. The bout ended when Alvarez landed not one but two vicious but illegal knees to a grounded Poirier, cutting him under his left eye midway through the second round. Referee, Herb Dean, stepped in and called an end to the bout with the result being declared a no contest despite Poirier’s claims he should have been awarded the victory. After UFC 211 both fighters admitted they were eager to run the fight back and go at it again.
It didn’t take long for both fighters to take to social media to show just how much they want a rematch. Poirier tweeted Alvarez asking when he would like to fight again as he seems to be growing impatient. You can see the full exchange on social media below.
