Dana White: GSP May Be Back At 155
Could GSP be on course to fight Conor McGregor when he returns?
The timing of GSP’s return couldn’t be better for the UFC. With Ronda Rousey out of the fight game currently and star draws are seemingly running low recently, the return of GSP, who held records for multiple draws such as PPV buys and gate sells among more, having GSP back could have the Canadian market open again to the UFC. The Canadian market for the UFC seemed relatively low in fighters since Rory McDonald and GSP had both left the UFC, Rory left for Bellator MMA.
Since this news, speculation of his first bout back has been the main topic of discussion. Fights against people like Michael Bisping the UFC middleweight champion have been discussed, a fight with his old foe Nick Diaz or new welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, even though he is currently booked to face Stephen Thompson in a rematch at UFC 209.
Speaking to the LA Times, UFC President Dana White stated “He’s back, I’m excited. We worked at it for a long time and finally got it done.” White continues to say “It could be the winner between Tyron Woodley and Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson, or it could be Michael Bisping. Georges has also talked about fighting at 155 pounds. He says he can make the weight.”
White finished with ““But I have no idea when he’s going to fight right now. We don’t have anything booked and literally haven’t talked to anybody about it.”
Who do you think GSP’s return fight should be?
