Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather are in talks for a rematch inside the octagon
Are we about to see the two biggest names in fighting do it all over again, inside a cage?
Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather are reportedly in talks over a sensational rematch, but this time in the octagon.
The pair met in a boxing match back in August where Mayweather, one of the sports’ all-time greats stopped ‘The Notorious One’ in the 10th round.
UFC president, Dana White has reported that the two megastars are discussing a potential rematch in the octagon and believes that the fight will happen.
“My soundings are that there are a lot of talks going on in the background, there are a lot of talks around people with Mayweather” White said.
“There are a lot of talks about him potentially having an MMA fight with Conor.”
“People will tune in to see Floyd get stopped by Conor and it won’t affect his boxing record.”
“I think it’s going to happen and I think it will be a three, four, five hundred million dollar fight again.”
‘Money’ has teased many times that he could be making the switch to MMA and recently released a video of him inside the octagon.
Longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan has claimed that Mayweather is already in talks with Dana White.
Mayweather is claiming that he has already received multi-fight deal offers from the UFC and that he could make a billion dollars if he were to switch sports.
Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping believes any meeting between the pair in the cage would be a very short-lived one.
“I honestly can’t see Mayweather fighting mixed martial arts and certainly not in the UFC.” Bisping said on his podcast. “Conor in an MMA fight will destroy Mayweather like he’s never seen.”
Bisping added: “You take him down, you pass guard and you elbow the hell out of his face in about 35 seconds, you fight a boxer, you take him down, it’s as simple as that.’
