Just as UFC 214 gains a fight, it loses one!

The ‘Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung has had to pull out of his highly anticipated fight with Ricardo Lamas at UFC 214.

The news broke early Friday morning and was later confirmed by Ariel Helwani at It appears as though Korean Zombie injured his knee whilst preparing for the pay per view card, the injury is so significant that it will now require surgery and the Korean maybe out for at least six months. This marks the second time a fight between the two has fallen through.

Ricardo Lamas is still on the card and the UFC is now scrambling to find him a replacement in time for the July 29th card which takes place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The card is scheduled to be headlined by a much-anticipated rematch between light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones.

Sung Jung made his UFC return at UFC Fight Night 104 back in February, before this he was out of action for almost four years with injuries, he also did a mandatory two-year stint in the South Korean army on national service. He was knocked out by Jose Aldo in a title fight at UFC 163, this ended a three-fight winning streak which saw him beat Dustin Poirier, Mark Hominick, and Leonard Garcia.

Lamas is coming off a submission win over Charles Oliveira at The Ultimate Fighter Latin America 3 Finale back in November. Lamas is now 3 and 2 in his last 5 UFC outings.

UFC 214 takes place July 29th on pay per view, as well as the headlining title fight, the card also features fighters including Cris Cyborg, Doo Ho Choi, and Renan Barao.
