Alexander Gustafsson calls out Jon Jones
Former title challenger wants his rematch
Gustafsson has tweeted his congratulations to the newly crowned UFC Light Heavyweight king, however, he has also told Jones to “stop calling out retired fighters” and stated he has “been waiting to put my hands” on Jones.
@JonnyBones congrats Champ. Stop asking for retired fighters, I've been waiting to put my hands on you and so have all the fans.

After Jones’ win over Daniel Cormier this past weekend, the new champ called out former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar, Lesnar is currently suspended following a suspension dating back to UFC 200, this UFC 200 fight marked Lesnar’s return from a retirement.
Alexander Gustafsson is coming off a knockout win over Glover Teixeira this past May at UFC Fight Night 109. Gustafsson fought Jones back at UFC 165 and gave the champion the toughest fight of his career, Jones won a very close decision, and many people feel that it was Gustafsson’s hand that should have been raised on that night.
With Jimi Manuwa’s loss to Volkan Oezdemir, Gustafsson should be next in line for a title shot, however, Oezdemir may also be awarded the chance to face Jones – With very little challengers left at Light Heavyweight for Jones, we may see him step up in weight in the near future.
Who do you think should face Jones next? Should he stay at light-heavyweight and face Gustafsson or Oezdemir or should he move up in weight? Sound off in the comments below and be sure to check back with MMAThread.com for all your latest MMA News.
